KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety has arrested a suspected serial burglar thanks to a citizen who refused to be a victim and took it upon themselves not to let the bad guy get away.
The victim spotted the 32-year-old male break into their vehicle in the 2100 block of South Burdick Tuesday and called 911. When the suspect left before police arrived, the victim followed the suspect on foot, keeping in contact with dispatchers.
Officers were able to confront the suspect, who made a run for it but was quickly chased down.
They obtained a warrant to search the car burglar’s home and found stolen electronic equipment from other victims.
The suspect, who is said to be from Kalamazoo, is being held for breaking into a car, possession of burglary tools and attempted resisting. More charges may follow.
