KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A former Emmett Township police officer who had been charged with multiple counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct will wind up serving just four more months in jail after cutting a deal with prosecutors.
Troy Estree has been given ten months in the Kalamazoo County Jail with credit for six months already served on the reduced charge of assault by strangulation. He will also serve 48 months probation.
He was terminated from his job as a police officer three years ago when he was charged with seven counts of CSC after a juvenile family member claimed he had repeatedly molested her. A Calhoun County jury found him not guilty on those charges.
While he was free on bond, a 33-year-old family member accused him of sexually assaulting her at the Oasis Hot Tub Spa in Kalamazoo.
It’s that crime that was reduced to a simple assault through plea bargaining.
