KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety rushed to a fire at a gas station at 2 p.m. on the Independence Day holiday.
A customer accidentally ran into a gas pump at the Circle K in the 4100 block of Portage Road, investigator said. The resulting spill touched off a fire that destroyed her car, another car parked on the other side of the pump and did significant damage to the pumping station.
The gas station safety system was activated to cut off the gas flowing to the pumps and the fire was extinguished using firefighting foam.
There were no reports of injuries.
