PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — Portage Public Safety says speed was likely a factor in a fiery crash involving a pickup near Portage Road and Bacon Avenue.
Investigators say a 54-year-old from Portage struck a tree after losing control of his Chevrolet before 6 p.m. Sunday.
The driver was able to escape with only minor injuries, despite a portion of the truck being consumed by flames. Firefighters were said to have quickly extinguished the blaze upon their arrival, according to a press release from the city.
The incident remains under investigation.
