UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — Perfect Fourth of July weekend weather may be great for your outdoor plans, but it follows an unusually dry start to summer and its making fire officials around the state nervous.
Some individual townships in eastern and central Michigan have already imposed bans on all outdoor burning, including fireworks, but none in West Michigan that we have heard about.
State Fire Marshal Julie Secontine says its day-to-day for any kind of regional ban. The right combination of wind, humidity and other factors could create dangerous conditions.
If it comes it would probably be in southeastern Michigan and the northern Lower Peninsula.
The area got a little rain Thursday night but none is forecast through the weekend.
Fire officials always urge caution when you use fireworks.
They are adding this year an extra caution to be mindful of secondary fires as well. Have a bucket of water or fire extinguisher handy.
