KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Township has closed the investigation into the stabbing death of Wendy Whitney, who was killed on Feb. 29 as she stood in her driveway on Foster Avenue.
The prime suspect was an ex-boyfriend, Christopher Long, who fled immediately after the shooting.
He was tracked to Cumberland County, Ky. Investigators said he had family in the area.
When confronted by police, he stabbed himself to death.
Kalamazoo Township Police Chief Tim Bourgeois said blood evidence from the victim recovered from Long’s car and motel room and a taped confession left on a recorder found after his suicide convinced them that he was the guilty party and that he acted alone.
