KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A big crowd turned out Friday night on a perfect evening for baseball at Homer Stryker Field for Kalamazoo Strong night.
Shooting survivor Tiana Carruthers made an appearance on the field to receive a Check from the fundraising organization and members of the Chain Gang Bicycle Club rode stationary bikes to raise funds for their members and their families, who were struck down in Cooper Township earlier this month.
There was also a silent auction.
Growlers Asst. G.M. John Bollinger says they nearly sold out. He says this is one of the ways they give back to the community.
A percentage from every ticket sold went into the Kalamazoo Strong crisis fund.
The fans got an exciting game that went into extra innings, the Green Bay Bullfrogs winning 6 to 15 in the 13th.
There were no problems at the Bombers game despite the fact that they were holding a gun appreciation night at C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek. Manager Tony Iovieno says they put on extra security and anyone who was openly carrying gun was not allowed to buy beer. The Bombers won 3 to 2 over the Rochester Honkers.
