BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — An escaped animal at the Binder Park Zoo shut down the Wild Africa Exhibit for a couple of hours late Tuesday morning.
Zoo officials says Neva, a female waterbuck, was spending her first day on the zoo’s 18-acre savannah and broke through an inner fence.
They said she never left the zoo property.
Trams to the exhibit were parked for the safety of the animal, which was tranquilized and returned to the barn for a medical checkup.
Officials at the zoo said the public was never in danger.
