KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — GasBuddy.com says the statewide average price for a gallon of regular in Michigan tumbled 16 cents last week to $2.57.
Prices haven’t been that low to start the summer in 11 years.
Analyst Patrick DeHaan says maintenance problems that plagued refineries in May are getting fixed.
“That undoing of those situations impacting production now are helping usher in lower prices,” DeHaan said.
He also says uncertainty over the United Kingdom possibly leaving the European Union also put downward pressure on oil prices.
Gas is selling for about $2.54 in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids and $2.58 in Lansing.
