WHITE PIGEON (WKZO-AM) — A White Pigeon man is being held for felonious assault of a police officer after not only fleeing from police, but also trying to force one of the officers off the road.
Michigan State Police tried to pull him over for running a stop sign and speeding, but he bolted. In the chase that followed, they claim the suspect rammed cruiser.
The trooper was able to use a PIT maneuver, nudging his rear fender to send the car into a spin. The 28-year-old suspect tried to flee on foot but didn’t get far before he was arrested.
It turned out that he was already wanted on two outstanding warrants, which may explain why he ran. He now faces a number of additional charges.
A passenger in his vehicle required treatment for minor injuries.
In addition to the felony assault charge, he is being held for fleeing and eluding, resisting and driving on a suspended license.
