KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — For the first time in three years, the Kalamazoo County Health Department reports that a rabid bat has been found in the county.
Where there is one, there may be more.
They are the most common carrier of the disease in Michigan, but transmission to humans is exceedingly rare because they don’t usually come in contact. Officials say, if you do have an opportunity to find a live one or a dead one, they would like you to carefully scoop it up and submit it for testing.
