OSHTEMO (WKZO-AM) — Morgan Rowley has been formally charged for driving drunk and for leaving the scene after she struck a Western Michigan University student who was jogging along KL Avenue last month.
Nicholas Heil, 21, died from his injuries.
Rowley, 22, was taken into custody that night after the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office heard from a relative. They were waiting for toxicology reports before issuing formal charges.
Undersheriff Pauli Matyas said tests showed she was well over the legal limit for alcohol at the time of her arrest. She was released to her parents on the condition she remain sober.
She has one previous conviction for driving under the influence in Traverse City a few years ago.
