KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Lakeside for Children has broken ground on a $2.3 million expansion on their Oakland Drive campus.
The 12,500 st. ft. building will feature a new gymnasium, fitness center and classrooms. It will replace the old Lakeside Academy gym, which was originally constructed in the 1960s.
The sanctuary and school for abused and troubled children has been raising money for the project since last October.
Lakeside for Children provides services for roughly 120 children.
Money was also set aside to improve the school’s overall health and wellness programming.
