BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — An 11-year-old girl is being held at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home in Marshall after attempting to attack her mother with a butcher knife.
The Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office is trying to determine what to do with the child.
The assault occurred early Tuesday night.
The girl had been grounded the week before after getting caught smoking. The child confronted her mother with the weapon as the 30-year-old was napping, according to police investigators.
Police say the girl knocked her mother to the floor and allegedly told her she hoped she died in her sleep. That prompted the woman to flee the Capital Avenue home with her infant and call 911.
