MOTTVILLE (WKZO-AM) — A northern Indiana couple has been sentenced to 18 months probation and will be forced to pay nearly $4,500 restitution after 20 exotic animals were seized from their home in Mottville.
Troy Leiby and Jessica Achberger will avoid additional jail time after already serving two days behind bars. The Three Rivers Commerical News reports the judge also disallowed both former pet shop owners from possessing any new animals.
A monkey, wallabies and flying squirrels were taken from their residence in January.
Leiby and Achberger were charged with animal cruelty and possessing the creatures without a permit.
