KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A 39-year-old Kalamazoo man who killed a woman in a drunken hit-and-run on the city’s north side will spend at least the next six years in prison.
Shelby Johnson left the scene after critically injuring Sherry Artwright in a wreck at North Park and West Frank streets last June.
Artwright later died after being hospitalized.
Johnson was found at home an hour after the incident, where he was questioned and arrested but later released from jail. He was jailed again and charged with three felonies after the completion of a Michigan State Police investigation 10 months later.
