PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — One person had to be treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation after a residential fire in the 1400 block of West Centre Avenue in Portage.
It happened early Monday. Firefighters found the lone occupant outside when they arrived on scene at around 4 a.m.
The flames were contained to an upstairs bedroom and extinguished in about 10 minutes, according to a press release.
Damage is estimated at $10,000.
It’s not clear what caused the fire. The fire marshal will launch an investigation.
Firefighters from Texas Township and the police division of Portage Public Safety assisted.
