QUINCY (WKZO-AM) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Office has now confirmed Deputy Michael Winter has died from injuries he suffered when he was thrown from his horse while providing security at the Memorial Day Parade in Quincy on Monday.
He was officially declared braindead at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. His family will keep him on life support until arrangements can be made to donate his organs.
Sheriff John Pollack issued this statement: “He will be greatly missed by all of us his co-workers and fellow law enforcement family. We shall always remember him for his service to his country, to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office and to his family.”
They are accepting donations for the family at the sheriff’s office.
Winters was 39.
