KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Hundreds of bikers gathered at the Maple Hill Mall for the 6th annual EZ Memorial Ride and fundraiser, to honor slain Public Safety Officer Eric Zapata Saturday afternoon.
The rain held off despite a threatening forecast. This year’s run featured a custom bike painted by Eric’s uncle that depicted a fire truck, a squad car and a Public Safety badge.
They roared off at 1:30 after a prayer and headed along a prescribed route that would take them through three counties and wound up at the Backroads Saloon in Marshall.
All the proceeds from the event will go to the Eric Zapata Foundation, which aids his three children.
