AUGUSTA (WKZO-AM) — Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta is getting ready for its annual Memorial Day ceremony.
Volunteers will spend Saturday placing American flags at the graves of the over 33,000 interred at the facility, many of whom are veterans.
Director Peter Sardo said it’ll be a poignant visual for a somber event on Sunday.
At 2 p.m., we always hold our Memorial Day ceremony where we remember all of those service members that have passed,” Sardo said.
The flags will remain at each plot through Monday’s holiday.
