LANSING (WKZO-AM) — State Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, is urging Memorial Day motorists to be on the lookout for gouging at the pump.
Proos said drivers should report gas stations that are taking advantage of Gov. Rick Snyder’s emergency declaration to the attorney general’s office.
“If you see something that’s completely out of the ordinary in terms of a price spike, make that complaint,” Proos said.
He also said the declaration was not made to incite panic, claiming the intention was to only extend hours for truckers hauling petroleum.
Snyder made the call this week after the shutdown of a Wisconsin pipeline and an unplanned Detroit refinery outage.
