KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Organizers are in the final stages of planning the 2016 Hidden Kalamazoo tours on June 18-19 and are looking for a little help.
Historic Preservation Coordinator Sharon Ferraro said guides are needed.
“Tell people the stories of these buildings and make sure that they go through these buildings that haven’t been redeveloped yet safely,” Ferraro said. “None of them are dangerous, but with some of them it’s like, ‘we’re going to stay away from that edge of the floor where it’s roped off.’”
She said the volunteers will work at eight sites.
“We ask each volunteer to work a three and a half hour shift, then they get a ticket that gets them into the rest of the event for free,” Ferraro said.
Volunteers will also receive a shirt with the event’s logo.
