KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Thanks to the Kalamazoo Humane Society and PetSmart Charities, area pet owners can get their puppies and kittens spayed and neutered at a discount price.
Julie Barber with the Kalamazoo Humane Society says it will take place in June and it will be first come, first served. She says they like to do the procedure when the animals are less than a half a year old, before they are able to reproduce.
It’s called the “Precious, Not Parents” campaign. Barber said the price will be $20 if you remember to mention the name of the campaign when you call to reserve a spot.
She says there are always animals in the shelters because there are too many pets and not enough pet owners. This is one way to reduce the gap.
There are no income or residency requirements — all you need is a young dog or cat.
They’re urging people to visit their website or call (269) 345-1181 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
