BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police in Battle Creek believe that a driver who was high on drugs tried to use his pickup as a battering ram and is now being held for felonious assault.
It happened at about 12:40 a.m. when an officer heard squealing tires in the 200 block of Battle Creek Avenue.
She discovered the white truck slamming into a home. She ordered the 39-year-old suspect out of the vehicle. Instead, he aimed the truck at the officer and hit the gas. She had to jump out of the way.
The suspect then allegedly forced another police cruiser to swerve to avoid a collision.
A chase followed. After hitting three parked cars, the battered vehicle stopped and the driver was taken into custody.
He is being held on two counts of felonious assault with a vehicle, fleeing and eluding and driving under the influence of drugs.
