DEARBORN (WKZO-AM) — Two southwest Michigan schools have won the top prizes in an annual student driving safety program contest put on by Ford.
Forty-four Michigan schools participated in the “Strive for a Safer Drive” program, with students putting together their own traffic safety campaigns aimed at their peers.
Jim Graham is with Ford and says Sturgis High School and Three Rivers High School wowed judges the most and took the top two spots.
“They had to get involved with the community, they had to get involved with the media, they had to come up with a slogan — they were all good, but these were the top two,” Graham said.
On Monday, the schools will pick up their respective $1,500 and $1,250 checks and students will take part in a special driving safety clinic at the automaker’s proving ground in Dearborn.
