KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Organizers say the 38th-annual “Borgess Run for the Health of It!” weekend and 8th-annual Kalamazoo Marathon on Sunday were big successes.
Spokesperson Blaine Lam says 500 people ran the marathon Sunday.
“That’s a really good number for a town our size,” Lam said.
Lam also said the weekend revenue picture will be a bit clearer in about 45 days. They had to wrestle with some big bills this year.
“We pay our public safety officers … time-and-a-half, we’ve got engineering bills, we have our T-shirt and our scoring bills and everything to come in,” Lam said.
The event usually generates about $35,000 annually for four children’s charities.
