EDWARDSBURG (WKZO-AM) — It has been 39 years since 25-year-old Robert Stasiak was declared dead by suicide, but now investigators believe his death was a murder and they have identified a suspect.
The Edwardsburg Police Department in Cass County reopened the case last year after new information came forward. They exhumed the victim’s body for additional tests, re-interviewed witnesses, talked to new witnesses and convinced the Cass County Prosecutor’s office to file open murder charges against Stasiak’s cousin, 56-year-old Raymond Richmond.
The suspect was arrested in Indiana on Thursday and will be held for extradition to Cass County to face the homicide charge and a felony gun count.
