GALESBURG (WKZO-AM) — Residents are blaming an upstairs neighbor’s alleged methamphetamine cook for a fire that burned six units at an apartment building in Galesburg.
Investigators haven’t confirmed the cause yet, but say the Wednesday blaze at the Galesburg Village Apartments is suspicious in part because the suspected drug-makers fled the scene and remain at large.
WWMT-TV reports an off-duty Comstock Township firefighter who lived in the building on North 35th Street called 911 before 2 a.m.
The structure was evacuated safely.
