DETROIT (WKZO-AM) — Most of the fireworks shipment stolen from a CSX freight train that traveled through S.W. Michigan last week has been found, now a $5000 reward is being offered to identify the culprits.
31 of the 32 missing cases were found abandoned in a vacant lot on the southwest side of Detroit, apparently because of all the news reports about the theft made the cases too hot to try to sell.
ATF agent Donald Dawkins says the investigation isn’t over. They still want to locate that final case of explosives, and the theives who stole them.
The cases contained 500 pounds of highly explosive commercial grade fireworks that were in were in transit from Chicago to Detroit when they vanished last Wednesday.
