KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Ada Street on Friday on a report of a man with a gun in his waistband.
They spotted the suspect walking down the street and when confronted, he resisted. The incident happened at around 8 p.m.
In the struggle that followed, they allege the 21-year-old Kalamazoo man tried to disarm the officers by biting one of them on the leg. He allegedly spat toward the officers after he was hit with a Taser and cuffed.
A serial number check on the .22 caliber handgun they removed from his belt match a gun that had been reported stolen from police in Kalamazoo Township.
He is being held for carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, being a felon with a gun and attempting to disarm a police officer.
