AUGUSTA (WKZO-AM) — We now know the name of the Portage man who was killed while riding his motorcycle near Augusta on Monday.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller says 42-year-old Michael Lee Kuis died after he was struck by a Battle Creek man driving a commercial van.
Fuller said each of the half-dozen fatalities in southwest Michigan this past weekend were caused by drivers who told police they did not see the motorcycle they struck. He said drivers must retrain themselves to watch for motorcycles every spring because they are used to seeing much larger vehicles for most of the winter and early spring.
The name of the other driver involved in Monday’s crash has not been released because he could still face possible criminal charges.
