KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The chairperson of the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners already knows who he wants to see replace departed administrator Terrence Neuzil.
John Taylor likes interim administrator John Faul, pointing to work he did in the same position before Neuzil’s hiring.
“I think he’s got a great team behind him and I’d like to continue with that team,” Taylor said.
If the board opts for another search, Taylor said they’d only be able to only offer a one-year contract to candidates after June 1, citing state law regarding outgoing commissions. A new commission will be seated at the start of 2017.
He also said the new healthcare services building adds to the time crunch.
“We’ve got to pick our architect, we need to pick our construction manager — all these things we need to move forward on,” Taylor said. “I think John is perfectly capable to do that.”
The board will discuss its options during its April 19 meeting.
More information on the resignation of Neuzil is expected to be released this afternoon.
