KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A man accused of stabbing a neighbor’s dog to death with a samurai sword outside his apartment in Kalamazoo has been ordered to stand trial.
Gary Singer, 28, faces felony animal cruelty charges after plunging the weapon into the pit bull in March.
Neighbors told police Singer stabbed the dog to death only because it wandered in front of his residence, but Singer claims the dog was charging him and he was defending himself.
He remains free on bond.
