BRUSSELS (WKZO-AM) — Belgian terrorist bombing survivor Sabastien Bellin of Battle Creek says it was his family that got him through the ordeal of nearly losing his leg when the bombs went off at the airport near Brussels.
From his hospital bed, he told CBS News that, at first, he didn’t think he was going to survive his wounds after the blast tossed him 50 feet, cutting open his leg and hip.
He said a stranger came by with a cloth and helped stop the bleeding and could see leg bones protruding through his skin.
He has already been through two surgeries and more may be needed.
Bellin said he feared what he might miss back here in Michigan, like his daughters. He felt relieved for the first time that he might make it when they loaded him into an ambulance.
Bellin says he can’t wait to see his family, who are on their way to Belgium.
