HAVANA (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo’s most famous face, retired Yankee Derek Jeter, is part of the delegation practicing what can only be called “baseball diplomacy,” as the Tampa Bay Rays prepare for an exhibition game on Tuesday with the Cuban national team.
The delegation includes President Obama.
Jeter said, despite the differences between Cuba and the United States, both nations have baseball in common.
It’s the first exhibition game in Cuba since 1999.
For Jeter, it’s his first major appearance since retiring from the Yankees in 2014.
