GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — The father of Abigail Kopf, the youngest victim of last month’s mass shooting in the Kalamazoo area, says his 14-year-old is climbing out of bed and walking “entirely on her own,” refusing to be followed by a wheelchair.
Kopf is also capable now of speaking in a whisper and eating soft foods, according to her GoFundMe page.
The 1Harper Creek Middle School student suffered a tramatic brain injury when police say she was shot by Uber driver Jason Dalton last month.
Her grandmother was one of people people killed in the parking lot of the Cracker Barrel in Texas Township.
Sunday was the one month anniversary of the attacks. Six were killed on Feb. 20.
The Kopf family said they are getting a system together to give regular updates on her condition.
