KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A food recall has been issued by Kalamazoo Schools, Loaves and Fishes and Communities in Schools.
They say certain boxes of shredded wheat cereal sent home with children last week contained bug larvae. They say the contaminated cereal was in weekend food backpacks that were distributed to about 600 children in 12 elementary schools on Thursday, March 10.
They say the affected cereal has lot # KBB 0211 printed on the top left corner of the boxes.
Families who find boxes of cereal with that lot number should throw the the cereal away in an outdoor waste receptacle. In fact to be safe, they say all contents from last week’s food backpack should be destroyed.
The problem was discovered by distributors. Apparently no one has actually complained they got a bad box of shredded wheat.
