KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says a $10 million lawsuit allegedly filed by Kalamazoo mass-murder suspect Jason Dalton against the rideshare company Uber is a hoax.
Undersheriff Paul Matyas said he got suspicious when he noticed the letter’s postmark.
“The postmark on the envelope was from Philadelphia,” Matyas said. “Well, our mail doesn’t go there.”
Investigators confirmed the handwriting was not Dalton’s on Thursday. Matyas also said they questioned the accused killer.
“We eventually talked to Mr. Dalton, and he had no idea what we were talking about,” Matyas said. “He didn’t send it, he didn’t authorize it and he doesn’t know who did, either.”
The four-page, hand-written document was allegedly filed in an east Michigan federal court earlier this week.
