KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County Administrator Terrence Neuzil is on paid leave less than three months after starting the job.
No contacted has been willing to discuss the particulars with us, but an anonymous source tells us it’s for inappropriate behavior.
The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners started their afternoon meeting Tuesday with an hour long closed session, which was unusual. Neuzil was absent without explanation and his seat left vacant for that meeting and the regular evening meeting. Other commissioners have not returned our calls on the matter.
Nuezil’s appointment came after disagreements led to the departure of the previous administrator. A troubled executive search took over a year to complete.
Neuzil had been an elected county executive in Iowa prior to taking the job in Kalamazoo. He had been winning praise, putting his own mark on county operations and spending time meeting with community leaders prior to this week.
