ALBION (WKZO-AM) — Three suspected armed robbers are in custody after leading multiple police agencies on a high-speed chase across Calhoun County early Saturday morning.
Police say it began at Parks Drug Store on Superior Street in Albion after two men, who were armed with a handgun, forced an employee to hand over prescription drugs. They jumped into a waiting getaway car with a female accomplice behind the wheel.
The vehicle headed north to Interstate 94 as officers spotted the speeding vehicle and gave chase.
The suspects travelled at around 100 mph of the freeway before losing a back tire.
They tossed something outside the vehicle near Marshall. Investigators, with the help of a tracking dog, later found a handgun in the area.
By the time a trooper was able to force the vehicle off the road near M-66, officers from a total of seven agencies had joined the pursuit.
The trio gave up without incident.
The suspects all will face multiple charges when they are arraigned.
