KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The 16th-annual Kalamazoo St. Patrick’s Day parade is set for Saturday downtown.
Organizers say 45 floats and features will traverse the route down the Kalamazoo Mall this year.
Margaret Strzelecki with the Kalamazoo Irish American Club says, after the parade wraps up, the festivities move to Bell’s Eccentric Cafe on East Kalamazoo Avenue.
“It’s our ‘Hooley for Healing,’” Strzelecki said, clarifying that a “hooley” is an organized Irish party. “This is a fundraiser for two families dealing with the extra expenses with cancer. There are donations at the door and a silent auction.”
The parade starts at 11 a.m. The fundraiser begins at noon.
The route starts at East Michigan Avenue at Kalamazoo Mall. It then marches down South Burdick Street and turns right on West Cedar Street.
