ALLEGAN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — Voters in Allegan County will be doing more than just selecting presidential nominees on Tuesday.
They will also be deciding who will fill the seat in the Michigan House of Representatives left vacant by the expulsion of Cindy Gamrat.
Gamrat, R-Plainwell, was tossed from office last year after it was uncovered she had an affair with another former state representative, Todd Courser, R-Lapeer. Courser resigned moments before Gamrat was expelled.
Both were accused of using taxpayer resources to cover up the relationship and both face felony charges.
There are three candidates running for the open seat — Republican Mary Whiteford, Democrat David Gernant and Libertarian Arnie Davidsons.
Kent County voters will also be voting to replace Brandon Dillon, who left the House to become the chairperson of the Michigan Democratic Party.
