LANSING (WKZO-AM) — The two latest polls in Michigan show a possible upset in the Republican primary on Tuesday, but little change on the Democratic side.
An American Research Group poll taken among likely Republican voters revealed that Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich are virtually neck and neck as they head toward Tuesday’s primary.
Kasich has 33 percent and Trump has 31 percent. Ted Cruz, who split the four Super Saturday states with Trump, ranked third in the ARG poll at 15 percent. Marco Rubio brings up the rear with 11 percent.
The poll was taken the day after the Republican Primary in Detroit and may suggest that Kasich’s strong and steady approach, steering clear of the insults, may finally have produced some traction.
The latest Epic-MRA poll released this weekend shows Hillary Clinton winning just about every region in the state except mid-Michigan.
Her lead overall is 56 percent to 31 percent, which is just about consistent with where it has been for some time. Clinton leads in most demographic groups, whether you measure by age, income, race or by where they live in the state
The Lansing Pollsters surveyed 400 likely Democratic voters for the survey.
Both polls have a five percent margin of error.
The polls could change again before Tuesday’s official tally. Some candidates will be campaigning in Michigan on Monday, with Bernie Sanders making a stop in Kalamazoo.
The results of Super Saturday voting could also have some influence on turnout or the outcome on Tuesday.
