STURGIS (WKZO) — A Wal-Mart employee in Sturgis is recovering from a stab wound to the neck after he tried to stop a suspected shoplifter who was apparently armed with a knife.
Witnesses were able to give dispatchers a description of the suspect, who fled the store on foot, and responding officers were able to take the suspect into custody.
The 48-year-old from Kendallville, Indiana has been arrested for attempted murder, armed robbery and two counts of resisting and obstructing police.
He was booked at the St. Joseph County Jail.
The store employee is recovering from his wound.
