KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo’s Hospitality House is well on its way to fulfilling expansion plans with a fundraising campaign that has already raised $3.4 million.
The facility provides temporary housing for out-of-town families of patients at Bronson Methodist Hospital and Borgess Medical Center. The housing is currently located in a historic home on South Street, but space is limited, maintenance costs are high and the facility is not near either hospital.
“It’s beautiful, it’s done a good job for 30 years, but it’s not handicap accessible and we cannot offer private rooms there,” Director Judy Marcusse Paget said.
The plan is to build two facilities on donated land within walking distance of both hospitals.
“The new places we’re going to be building are going to have seven guest rooms each with seven private bathrooms,” Paget said.
Another $1 million must be raised to complete the campaign. You can donate here.
