KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo will be in Benton Township on Monday to speak about reorganizing the Diocese to avoid closing churches.
Paul Bradley will also make an appearance tomorrow night in Kalamazoo.
He said the reorganization is needed to due to the shrinking number of priests. The church is losing priests to retirement faster than they can replace them, and that means 29 churches in the nine-county diocese will be conducting a share beginning in July.
The diocese includes counties from Branch to Berrien and from Allegan to Barry, and all counties in between.
The Bishop will be at the St. Bernard location in Benton Harbor at 5:30 p.m. on Monday to present the plan. He will appear at St. Mary’s in Kalamazoo on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
