KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A duffel bag that turned out to be harmless prompted a bomb squad call-out to Millham Park in Kalamazoo, near the campus of Loy Norrix High School.
Kalamazoo Public Safety says they got a report at about 2 p.m. Sunday of a man setting the piece of luggage down playground equipment and then leaving, and that it had been left there intentionally.
Responding officers found the bag, but not its owner.
The officers followed protocol, taped the area off and called for the bomb squad. Technicians were later able to determine the bag contained snacks and children’s items. Investigators believe it was left accidentally by someone taking advantage of the unusually warm February day to visit the park.
Officers have put the bag in Kalamazoo Public Safety’s lost and found. It will remain there, waiting for its rightful owner to collect it.
