KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The charities that make up the “Help Now!” fund, which was set up to help the families affected by the deadly shootings in Kalamazoo last Saturday, say they’re pleased with the outpouring they’ve seen from the community so far.
Just over $52,000 has been raised from 107 donors. This does not count donations received through mail.
Carrie Pickett-Erway, the president of the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, has been encouraged by the donations and fundraisers so far.
“That’s just an example, a demonstration of just how caring and generous this region is,” Picket-Erway said.
Joe Roberts with the Kalamazoo Wings says another big fundraiser is set for next Saturday when the hockey team returns to Wings Event Center for the first time since the tragedy.
“We’re taking $2 off every ticket sold and donations proceeds to that fund,” Roberts said.
The Wings will also donate proceeds from a St. Patrick’s Day jersey sale to the fund.
You can make donations to the fund here. Donations can also be mailed to: 32 W. Michigan Ave. Suite 1; Battle Creek, MI 49017.
