UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — Saturday’s mass killing in Kalamazoo has drawn comments from state and national politicians.
State Sen. Mike Nofs, R-Battle Creek, took to the floor surrounded by other area senators to remind everyone that it was more than just a tragedy in Kalamazoo. Four of the victims were from Battle Creek.
“The Battle Creek community is in pain today, as we have been since last weekend,” Nofs said. “But I can assure you, we will continue to honor the memory of those involved.”
U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, talked about the killings on the floor of the House, surrounded by Michigan’s congressional delegation.
“We should continue to keep them in our hearts and our minds,” Upton said. “I want to thank the countless folks on the front lines from preventing the tragedy from, yes, even being worse.”
President Obama commented on the events earlier this week, urging officials to do something about the proliferation of guns.
