KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Investigators say suspected mass-killer Jason Dalton purchased what is called a “tactical jacket” at a gun store in Allegan County on Saturday, the same day he allegedly shot six people to death in Kalamazoo.
Mike Westra at the Southwick Gun Store in Plainwell said it’s a piece of apparel that might be purchased by a police officer or an outdoorsman who carries a side-arm.
“That will keep the rain and snow off you, but still allows for decent movement,” Westra said.
Dalton, 45, was apparently a regular at the gun store, but store records say he did not buy the nine-millimeter handgun used in the killings at the shop.
Police say the gun was obtained legally, but he did not have a permit to carry it.
He had additional ammunition with him when he was captured.
Police believe he may have been hunting for other victims before he was arrested.
